Introduction
Welcome to Apphold — an open-source, self-hosted software telemetry platform for monitoring website uptime in real time.
What is Apphold?
Apphold is an open source, self-hosted software telemetry and uptime monitoring platform that runs on your own server. It provides a clean, real-time dashboard for tracking the availability and performance of your websites and services. Because it's self-hosted, your monitoring data stays entirely under your control — no third-party services involved.
Key Concepts
Monitors
Monitors are the core of Apphold. Each monitor tracks a specific URL or service endpoint, performing periodic uptime checks at configurable intervals. Monitor results are recorded automatically and are accessible from any device connected to your server.
Users
Apphold supports multiple user accounts. Each user has their own private collection of monitors and dashboards. Administrators can manage users and application settings, while regular users can create and manage their own monitors.
Alerts
Apphold offers configurable alert notifications. When a monitored service goes down or exceeds response time thresholds, you are notified immediately through your configured notification channels (email, webhooks, etc.).
Dashboard
Apphold provides a real-time dashboard that gives you an at-a-glance overview of all your monitors, their current status, uptime percentages, and response time history.
Getting Started
Once your administrator has set up Apphold, you can:
- Log in with the credentials provided by your admin (default:
admin@example.org/12345678) - Set up your first monitor from the dashboard
- Configure alert notifications for downtime events
- Adjust your personal settings (language, notification preferences, etc.)
Browser Compatibility
Apphold works best with modern, up-to-date browsers. Supported browsers include:
- Google Chrome (v80+)
- Mozilla Firefox (v78+)
- Microsoft Edge (v80+)
- Apple Safari (v13+)
For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of Chrome or Edge on desktop.
